Hi Bianca, fantastic news you are coming to Amsterdam for the fifth year performing your shows for Amsterdam Pride! What does it feel like?
“I’m beyond excited to be returning!!! Of all the cities I’ve travelled to, Amsterdam is truly one of my absolute favorites. The people are amazing and know how to party. I’m more than happy to keep returning like a bad rash.”
You brought us your shows “Rolodex of Hate,” “Not Today Satan,” and “Blame It On Bianca,” what do you think has evolved through the years?
“Do you want to know what has evolved with my shows or with the world? The world now has Trump and Brexit, but don’t blame that shit on me!! I’ll tell you what hasn’t evolved... my tolerance. I’m bitchier than ever, so be prepared. You have been warned.”
You are currently performing in the hit musical “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” on West End in London. We knew you have a history on Broadway as a costume maker, but how did this happen?
“Well, they had Michelle Visage playing one of the other roles last year and they decided to get someone better. They decided to get a real star to boost ticket sales - I told you I’m bitchier than ever. Haha. Seriously, they reached out to my manager and expressed interest in having me play the role of the old, bitter drag queen. It seemed like a perfect fit, so I said sure! And it has been so much fun. It’s a great show with an amazing cast and crew.”
On the “It’s Jester Joke” tour you are playing Wembley in London, and you will be performing two nights this year in Amsterdam, what’s next? World domination?
“I try not to think in advance too much. If I think too much about it, it will make me crazy. It’s a lot of pressure, so I just focus on what’s in front of me and roll with it. My focus right now is my ‘It’s Jester Joke’ tour, which I’m performing all over the world through the end of November. I’m not sure what will be after that, but I guarantee you it will be better than the ‘Game of Thrones’ finale... and Season 11 of ‘Drag Race.’”
We heard a rumour you are looking for a place in Palm Springs... time to retire after the tour ends?
“It’s not about retiring at all. I’m moving to Palm Springs because I want to be a twink again. That’s the real secret to youth... move to a city where the average age of gay men is 102.”
Since you are not retiring, what’s next?
“Waking up... I hope.”
You are bringing Lady Bunny this year to perform on your afterparty, have you been friends for a long time?
“I’ve known Lady Bunny for many, many, many, many years. We first met twenty years ago when I joined Alcoholics Anonymous and she became my sponsor. That explains why I drink so much now. I wanted to have her perform after my show to bring attention to a very important issue that’s near and dear to my heart... fat, white elephants are endangered and need protection!!! Seriously, I absolutely LOVE Lady Bunny! She’s a brilliant, talented performer who’s so laid back and fun. She’s forty years older than me and still wears me out... in and out of bed.”
Really looking forward to seeing you in August, anything we can have delivered to your dressing room?
“Wine, wine, and more wine!! And space cakes for Lady Bunny.”
