Soon, Amsterdam will have another Tea Dance! On April 7 you can “land” at the end of your weekend in café The Queen’s Head and enjoy the music stylings of Bo Monde and Jakko B. We asked Jakko B if he could tell us a bit more.
What is a Tea Dance?
“I call it a ‘casual afternoon dance event.’ Just good music, fun and dancing, but then in the afternoon and early evening, so you can still be fresh on Monday.”
Where does “Happy Landings” come from?
“A friend of mine started the concept in Argentina. ‘Happy Landings’ began as a weekly Tea Dance in aeroplane theme that revolved around club classics and uplifting house and disco. The idea of ‘landing’ at the end of your party weekend spoke to a lot of people. ‘Happy Landings’ was busy.”
What do you mean by aeroplane theme?
“During the party the ‘pilot’ announces important information, the drag stewardess gives out wet wipes and snacks to the ‘passengers,’ and there even is a flight safety demonstration. That nod to the world of aeroplanes makes the party crazier and different from other parties.”
Who can we expect during the flight as “crew”?
“I will be the ‘co-pilot’ of captain Bo Monde (Miss Gay Holland 2017). Bo has a huge collection of dance classics and club house. She is an international DJ at various Prides and large GLBT events. We also found purser Janey Jacké willing to fly with us. She will ensure flight safety and make the flight as pleasant as possible for everyone.”
Have a good flight!
