At the time of writing, the last days of 2018 are counting down, and at the same time we can look forward to a New Year full of beautiful events and activities! The ninth board of A.S.V.Gay is in its third month now, and has already had a wonderful time with great experiences.
From visiting the constitutional drinks of friendly associations and our own constitutional drink, to a successful party in co-operation with the Exit and themed drink nights, as well as the introduction period in September and October - all the highlights from the first few months of being on the board!
After everyone had recovered during the Christmas holiday, there were a lot of nice activities in January scheduled, starting with the first trip of the New Year. The travel committee had done their utmost and put together a wonderful program, all in the theme “Dora the Explorer: The Gays Go Exploring.” We were looking forward to prowl around the town of Cologne with a group of forty-five fellow members. Fortunately, there was no time to get bored after this adventure, as two days after returning home, it was time for the next event on the calendar: ice skating! Under the inspiring leadership of our very own speed skating expert we were putting our New Year’s resolution (more sports!) directly into practice, while enjoying a hot chocolate or mulled wine (after all, let’s not go overboard with good intentions).
That last motto is (unfortunately?) applicable to more of our activities. On January 18th, it was time to put our good intentions on hold, as the kick-off party of the very first A.S.V.Gay party series took place in Club SoHo! The party was accessible for everyone to come and enjoy an evening full of music, drinks and fun! Also, there was a theme drink in January. While sipping a nice cup of coffee or tea we had a good conversation on the theme “dating,” organized by our confidential advisers.
All in all, a wonderful month of January for A.S.V.Gay! It has “only” been three months since I was elected to the board, but time has gone by very quickly. It is great to look back at everything that has passed, and stop to consider what is about to happen. During these “board moments,” there is always some extra awareness about how cool it is to have a year on the board, and, above all, for the greatest student’s union of Amsterdam. I am looking forward to the remaining nine months on the busy, cheerful, sometimes undoubtedly difficult board with my five fellow board members.
