The Amsterdam Gay Student Association A.S.V.Gay is a union that each month, organizes special drinks, fantastic parties and socially relevant activities. This was no different the end of last year!
On Wednesdays, the members got together for posh drinks and dynamic dance moves. We also had our always successful karaoke night and Constituent Assembly. In close cooperation with the Exit in Amsterdam, the impressive party INV!TED was a great success. We collected an incredibly amount for LGBTQ+ refugees and donated this to the Rainbow Foundation Group. In November, A.S.V.Gay also participated in an interactive workshop about LGBTQ+ monuments and the way in which these can contribute to social inclusiveness in the city.
At the Transgender Day of Remembrance, A.S.V.Gay was present at the Homomonument to commemorate all the people who have lost their lives through anti-transgender violence. We feel it is important to support our transgender brothers and sisters, not just on this particular day, but every day!
December is known as a cold and dark winter month, but above all as the party month of the year! The month of presents, poems and sweets. The month of garlands, lights and prosperity. In this festive month, a number of activities were organized by the committees of our student union. We celebrated Sinterklaas on Wednesday, December 5th, with a gifts game and drinks. Also, our members enjoyed a variety of tasty dishes at the annual Christmas Dinner.
Now 2018 is coming to an end. However, the ninth board of A.S.V.Gay has only just begun! With my five fellow board members, I hope to have a fantastic year. As the treasurer, it will be a year in which I will undoubtedly lose myself in the many budgets and invoices. A year in which we are guaranteed to run into problems and face challenges. And above all, a year in which we will laugh together and celebrate!
