This year, the Dutch GLBT inheritance centre IHLIA celebrates its forty-year anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary, IHLIA presents “With Pride,” a national campaign and exhibition in which themes from the GLBT movement’s struggle of the past forty years are shown.
An exhibition about activism to citizenship, homophile to GLBT, discrimination on the grounds of legal inequality, and about a militant attitude towards the future.
The “With Pride” campaign opens on November 8 with an exposition in the great exhibition hall of its home base OBA Oosterdok, the Central Library in Amsterdam. The exhibition is on view until January 25, 2019. After this period, “With Pride” will travel the country to show this part of history in surprising locations all over the Netherlands. The organizers do not only want to look back. We know that we were once young, pretty and handsome, but even more interesting is the question whether this bygone world was so much different from today’s world. This energy of activism is again needed to attain progression with other, younger people.
The exhibition at the OBA is limited to five themes. In the national campaign, however, the number of themes will be increased. Unfortunately, the project will never be complete, but everyone is invited to share their history and stories. On to the next forty years. You are cordially invited!
