As of August 2017, Stage Entertainment Nederland will be active as a social partner of the Aidsfonds in order to end AIDS worldwide. Albert Verlinde, General Director of Stage Entertainment Nederland: “We believe in the possibility of putting a stop to AIDS worldwide, and it is a moral necessity to contribute to this.”

“In the 1980s and 1990s, many artists and creative people died of AIDS. It is incomprehensible that for many people in the world, life-saving medicines are not yet accessible. Stage Entertainment Nederland will enter into this social commitment to contribute to putting a stop to AIDS worldwide”, Verlinde emphasised.

Worldwide, AIDS is still responsible for many deaths, despite the fact that there are medicines, effective treatments and effective means of prevention. In the Netherlands, an HIV infection is no longer a death sentence, but elsewhere in the world, one million people still die of AIDS each year. It is young people, especially young women, that fall victim to it. We can stop that. Internationally, it is agreed upon to put a stop to the epidemic by 2030.

Stage Entertainment Nederland is going to work alongside the Aidsfonds to call attention to World Aids Day through her theatres and other (media) channels, calling on people to support the Aidsfonds campaign. In the theatres of Stage Entertainment Nederland, among other things, for one week a year, they will take up a collection after the end of the show.

Aidsfonds will also act as a social partner in the program booklets of the various musicals. Louise van Deth, Executive Director of Aidsfonds, is extremely honoured by this rather special collaboration: “A long-term relationship continues in intensive cooperation. That solidarity is great and urgently needed to truly accelerate the fight against AIDS in the world.”
