The Gay Pride Week is one of the highlights of the year for the GLBTQ community. In addition to the famous boat parade, numerous other activities are organized to celebrate and ensure the emancipation and freedom of the GLBTQ community. This year, student union A.S.V.Gay will be organizing a symposium in which the “gay scene” will be put under the microscope.
On Tuesday, August 1st, everyone is welcome at CREA, Nieuwe Achtergracht 170, 1018 WV Amsterdam, to attend the symposium, starting at 11:00.
The theme “taboos and prejudices” will be discussed by various speakers, highlighting the taboos and prejudices that govern the gay scene (and beyond). For example, jokes are still being made about bisexuals, and women are still refused in bars and clubs in the Reguliersdwarsstraat.
Are people actually aware of the taboos and prejudices that are still prevalent in the gay scene? How do external taboos about GLBTQ people relate to the taboos within the gay scene? In addition to different speakers who discuss prevailing prejudices and taboos from their point of view, it will also be possible to discuss these topics in workshops. Join this fantastic symposium!
