On a Bingo Tuesday, Café the Queen’s Head on Amsterdam’s Zeedijk changed into a beach ball bar; dozens of colorful beach balls and air beds were hanging on the ceiling, summer cocktails ready, and the guys behind the bar looking hot, as always. It was time for the semi-annual “Mega Beach Bingo.”
On the normally busy “Drag Bingo Tuesday,” the place was now packed to the brim! Most of Amsterdam and the surrounding area flooded in for this XL version of the Bingo; straight, gay, male, female, young, and old. Some even followed the “dress code,” swim wear and flip-flops.
The hostess Coby van Dam, our wonderfully sharp and witty local girl, entertained the guest with a comic show and live songs, giving away fabulous prices at the bingo, including a traveler’s check worth 1,000 Euros and a tattoo coupon.
The highlights of the evening were the hilarious conversations our hostess had with the (nervous) winners at the winning numbers check. The potential winners may have a false bingo. Firm but fair, Coby punished these mistaken participants by making them take their trousers off or by making them do the chicken dance.
According to Coby, it was “fabulously hysterical.”
