Precisely one year ago, Café The Queen’s Head was taken over by John Jepma and Leon Oppers. Most things stayed the same, although secretly they are working on a new toilet area and an extension of the downstairs smoking room. The website has also been renewed. Besides the usual holidays, Gay Pride and group events, such as the bears, who have their set evening, a number of things are striking in the programming.
Regularly, new faces can be seen behind the DJ table, and this winter The Queen’s Head presents: “Winter Queens.” A very cosy winter indeed, full of shows by famous Drag Queens.
The first edition of “Winter Queens” with Miss Kimberley Clarck was a huge success. With her line-up, Kimberley touched the hearts of the visitors, who all joined in. There were magical costume changes on stage, and the audience got involved in hilarious sketches.
Later in the month of January, Dusty Gersanowitz, Vita d’Or, and Victoria False performed - celebrities who have made a name for themselves in Amsterdam, but also in the rest of the Netherlands.
Dusty Gersanowitz, with the nastiest tongue ever driven by vodka, and Vita d’Or, chic-coiffured and in garments with golden and pearl jewels, did a show together. Café The Queen’s Head has created a winter wonder program with a promising future, also because it attracts such a diverse public.
Sunday January 31 the stage is for Victoria False, the Senior Drag Queen, who perfected her trade in Paris, and sings live, from chanson to rock and roll, and from evergreens to true sing-a-longs.
On February 14, the last edition of “Winter Queens” will be hosted by Dusty Gersanowitz and Vita d’Or, especially for Valentine’s Day. Starts at 18:00. Free entry.
