There was a lot of attention for the first edition of “Superball,” which was held at the Tolhuistuin and hosted by Mayday and initiator Jennifer Hopelezz.
For the first time ever some ten Amsterdam drag houses showed what they are made of. On the threshold of this colorful event Ms. Hopelezz told Gay News: “There’s so much talent on heels here, that it’s strange that this talent never meets.”
During the “Superball” the Amsterdam drag community displayed what it has in store, and how diverse all that talent roaming the street really is. After an own presentation of the ten “houses,” they competed in a dance-off, demonstrating how well they can move and handle choreography.
Subsequently they showed in “Lipsync for your Life” how good they are in this essential part of drag culture. And finally there was a fashion show where the houses explored their sense of style and costume.
